True Generosity

True Generosity

.

“Generosity is not giving me that which I need more than you do, but it is giving me that which you need more than I do.”

Kahlil Gibran

We are not being generous when we take our used items to Goodwill and The Salvation Army. More often than not, we are just cleaning out our closets and garages and are thankful for a place to take the junk.

True generosity is giving away something we want and need to someone who doesn’t have the ability to obtain it any other way. It is responding to the obvious need of another without calculating how much we stand to gain or lose. Life’s richest rewards can only be found when we follow the Master’s example and give without measure.

“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” (Luke 6:38) NASB
